IRIDOLOGY
Iridology is the science & art of analyzing physical ailments from changes in the iris of the eye. Iridology enables us to know the tissue strength of various parts of the body. It does not “name” diseases. It is utilized at this clinic as complementary to other methods of assessment and thereby promote a more thorough traditional evaluation of wellness. Very often irid signs offer the first indication of the onset of disease and it’s use is a great complement to any traditional or conventional health care practise.
HOMOEOPATHY
The basic principle of Homeopathy as a system of medicine was recognized by Hippocrates as early as (460- 350 B.C.). Hippocrates wrote that medical treatment should be aimed at “removing the impediments to people getting better“. He also defined “symptoms” of a disease as the expression of nature’s healing powers. Though recognized, the scientific foundations and rapid revival of Homoeopathy as a system of medicine are credited to the German physician Samuel Hahneman, who, in the 19th century discovered he could stimulate remarkable healing by prescribing medicines in a more holistic way. Homeopathic prescribing is based not only on the patients main complaint, but each “remedy” or prescription takes into account other physical, mental & emotional symptoms as well. Side effects are virtually absent and curative action is most profound when the doses are extremely small. It is this “smallness” of dosage that makes it possible to use Homeopathic medicines safely alongside conventional medical drugs especially when further medication is not tolerable for the patient. Homeopathy as it stands today has evolved through a colourful history over the last 200 years in several countries. Unlike knowledge in conventional medicine, homeopathic knowledge does not become obsolete but rather keeps accumulating. With the abundance of drugs and their side effects in medical care today, homeopathy has emerged as an effective, safe alternative & complementary method for the use of medicinal substances.

ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is a component of the ancient science and art of Chinese Medicine. It has been practised throughout the eastern world, including India, Japan and Ceylon for well over 4,500 years and has become part of many Traditional healing practises. It is one of the oldest, most commonly used medical procedures in the world. “The term Acupuncture describes a family of procedures involving stimulation of anatomical points on the body by a variety of techniques. The Acupuncture technique that has been most studied scientifically involves penetrating the skin with thin, solid metallic needles that are manipulated by hand or by electrical stimulation.” Acupuncture (NCCAM Health Information) Today Acupuncture is recognized around the globe as a major treatment for many health conditions.
COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE
Welcome to Back to Health Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine and congratulations on taking a big step towards your overall health! We say overall health because cosmetic acupuncture is not just skin deep. We still address your whole body, just like a regular acupuncture treatment, and not just treating your face. So, not only will you start looking healthier and with more vitality, but you will feel the same way on the inside. Cosmetic acupuncture works by increasing qi (pronouced chee) and blood circulation to the area being needled which results in less wrinkles, smoother skin tone, tighter skin and increased elasticity, and much more (see benifits listed below) . From the Western medicine viewpoint, needling can cause cells to release more collage and elastin. Cosmetic acupuncture is less expensive, healthier and safer than modern procedures. It is virtually risk free with none of the side effects associated with surgery such as scarring, prolonged bruising or numbness.
What to Expect
For optimal results, treatments are scheduled twice a week for 5 weeks (10 treatments), but more may be needed depending on your skin condition. If you need results faster (like for a big event), ask your practitioner about other possible schedules. Your first consultation will include an overview of your health in regards to Chinese medicine. We will discuss the influence of diet, exercise and lifestyle as it relates to your particular condition. Once we have completed the initial overview, you will be given suggestions to help you on your way to better skin health which may include Chinese herbal medicine, nutritional counseling, exercise recommendations and skin care regimen, in addition to acupuncture. Each treatment takes from 45 to 60 minutes. Results can last from 3 to 5 years. After the initial 10 treatment regimen, a maintenance schedule can be tailored to your needs.
ADDICTIONS
Acupuncture is an effective method to treat addictions. Acupuncture for addiction involves inserting very fine needles into the ear; this is called auricular a cupuncture.
These points are linked to other areas of the body and through stimulation, change the body's chemicals and signals to the brain. The auricular acupuncture protocol is used around the world to help people deal with and recover from substance abuse.
The treatment protocol is beneficial in the process of detoxification from substance abuse as well as to help with the emotional, physical and psychological attributes involved in addictions.
Auricular acupuncture works in many ways. It can increase circulation of the blood, regulate breathing, increase restful sleep, reduce stress and anxiety, help control cravings and create an overall sense of feeling better. This is achieved by an increase in endorphin production, which are chemicals in the body that make us feel good.
Treatment allows an addict to have more control over their withdrawal period and to reduce the physical symptoms. This allows for the psychological issues surrounding the addiction to be addressed more readily.
Acupuncture is known to significantly relieve the symptoms of withdrawal from opiates, alcohol and tobacco and has been proven to help those with addictions to gambling, sex and over-eating.
