Ethne Munden

Ethne began her career as a registered nurse and nurtured a particular awareness of general wellness. After obtaining a doctorate in traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture, she developed a keen interest in functional back problem assessment, pain management, and back injury prevention and care. Further education and coursework resulted in Ethne’s very eclectic health care and fitness background. She complements her practice with iridology, homeopathy and yoga therapy. She has authored a book and hosted a local TV program on yoga.

Professional Affiliations

With more than 30 years of clinical experience, Ethne has devoted much time and energy to helping acupuncturists and TCM practitioners achieve recognition as health professionals. She has held lead positions, both provincially and nationally, promoting legislation, regulation and education of acupuncturists and TCM practitioners through professional organizations such as:

  • College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Newfoundland & Labrador (CTCMPANL)

  • Canadian Alliance of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners & Acupuncturists

  • Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals


Ethne has represented the profession as guest speaker at world, national and provincial conferences. She has appeared in several local papers and on local radio & TV programs, educating the public about her profession.

Ethne is also a member of NUPATH (the National United Professional Association of Homeopaths) and president and part owner of Health Bridges Inc. which has developed, tested and globally marketed Health Bridges, a 3-part postural correction system.

Bengie Munden

Bengie Munden is a massage therapist, licensed Chinese medicine practitioner and a registered acupuncturist. As part of her practice in medical acupuncture and Chinese medicine, Bengie has treated many patients for infertility and is well known in St. John’s for her work in this field. Bengie also has extensive experience and training in cosmetic acupuncture and acupuncture for cellulite. In her practice she combines techniques learned from some of Canada’s favourite and most publicized teachers in the field. Bengie also incorporates her knowledge of professional massage in her treatments. She has appeared in several local papers and TV shows educating the public about her profession. Bengie has been in practice since 2001.

  • Graduate of the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Victoria, British Columbia – Canada’s oldest and most reputable four-year program of traditional Chinese acupuncture and herbal medicine

Cheryl Oldford
R.Ac, TCM

Cheryl is a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncturist , Certified Cosmetic Acupunturist and is also certified in Skin Microneedling Technique.  She has been practicing in the Acupuncture profession for 13 years.  She is skilled practitioner who is passionate about helping clients achieve optimal health and specilizes in the treatment of Musculo-Skeletal/Rehabilitative Acupuncture,  Neuromuscular, Gastrointestinal and Mental Emotional disturbances.  


She graduated in 2007 through Eastern College and then successfully passed an extenstive National Board Examination for the CMAANL that was admistered by the Chinese Medicine Association of Alberta as well as successful completion of the required needle safety course for Acupuncturists.  Her studies included Traditonal Chinese Medicine Theory, Acupuncture, Tuina, Guasha, Chinese Cupping, Moxabustion, TCM Nutrition, Electroacupuncture and a needle safety course. 


Cheryl is also actively involved in her profession as an executive member on the Board of Directors for the CTCMPANL (College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Newfoundland and Labrador), Disciplinary Panel and Chair of the Board of Examiners.
